Jerry Jefferson Reassigned

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the reassignment of Jerry Jefferson to Deputy Warden of Security at Calhoun State Prison (SP) effective January 1, 2023. As Deputy Warden of Security, Jefferson will be responsible for overseeing security staff members and 1,600 medium-security male offenders at the facility.

"During Jefferson's twenty-eight-year tenure, he has displayed exceptional commitment and dedication to the agency," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "We are confident he will continue to uphold the GDC mission at Calhoun SP ."

Jefferson began his career with the GDC in 1995 as a Correctional Officer at Macon SP. During his tenure, he was promoted through the ranks of Sergeant, CERT Sergeant, and Lieutenant. In 2004, he was promoted to Captain at Lee SP. In 2007, he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Security at Rutledge SP. While serving as Deputy Warden, he transferred to  Autry SP, Macon SP, and in 2019, he was transferred to Dooly SP, where he currently serves.

Jefferson received an associate degree from the University of Phoenix. His departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Special Operations (CERT/TACT) Basic Training, Advanced Management Training, Corrections Leadership Institute, Deputy Warden's Academy, Command College, and the Professional Management Program through Columbus State University.
