Deserre Jones Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Deserre Jones to Deputy Warden of Administration at Calhoun State Prison (SP) effective September 1, 2017. As Deputy Warden, Jones will be responsible for overseeing the Business Office, Property/Supply Operations, Maintenance and Food Service departments at the facility housing over 1,610 medium security male offenders in Morgan, Ga.

“In just six years, Deserre has risen from the rank of Correctional Officer to Deputy Warden of Administration,” said Commissioner Dozier. “We are grateful to have such a focused and determined individual on our team, and we know she will be a great addition to Calhoun State Prison.”

Jones began her career with the department in 2011 as a Correctional Officer at Autry State Prison. In 2013, she transitioned into the Business Office at Autry State Prison as an Accounting Clerk and Accounting Paraprofessional. In 2016, she was promoted to Business Analyst Specialist 1 at the Southwest Regional Office, where she currently serves.

Jones is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business with a General Management Certificate, with an expected completion date of November 2017. She has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Supervision I, Supervision II and Supervision III, and multiple State Purchasing training courses.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 52,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
