Brian Adams Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Brian Adams to superintendent at Appling Integrated Treatment Facility (ITF) effective July 1, 2019. As superintendent, Adams will be responsible for overseeing approximately 49 staff members and 200 male offenders.

“Adams has proven himself to be an effective leader during his time with the department,” Ward said. “The work he has put in for more than 20 years of service is nothing short of excellent and we look forward to seeing him take the next step in his career.”

Adams began his career with the GDC in 1997 as a correctional officer at Dodge State Prison (SP).  In 2001, he transferred to Ware SP and rose through the ranks of sergeant and lieutenant.  After working one year at D. Ray James Private Prison, he returned to Ware SP as lieutenant in 2013. In 2016, Adams was promoted to captain and later the same year, he was promoted to unit manager at Ware SP.  In 2018, Adams was promoted to deputy warden of security at Georgia SP, where he currently serves.    

Adams has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Wardens Pre-Command, and the Professional Management Program through Columbus State University.
