What You Need To Know

How should you prepare for Family Day?

Prior to arriving, consider what questions you might have and write them down.

What should you expect when you arrive?

Check-in at Roberts Chapel; please have your ID and the offender’s GDC number readily available.

GDC will have security procedures in place to ensure fast processing, please only bring what is necessary (i.e. pen, paper, ID, keys).

Family or significant others must be on the offender’s approved visitation list and registered for the meeting.

GDC will issue color-coded numbers, corresponding to the individual/section with whom you wish to speak.

Attendees must remain in Roberts Chapel until number is called.

Once number is called, groups of 15-20 will be ushered to Vinzant Hall.

Physical Assistance

If you require physical assistance, please inform a GDC representative during check-in.

Individuals who require physical assistance will be driven by security staff in an open-air golf cart to Vinzant Hall.

Recommended Attire

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes. There is a possibility you will be walking or standing for extended periods of time.

Time with GDC Representative

In order to ensure we are able to address the concerns of as many individuals as possible, please try to limit your time spent with a GDC representative to 10 minutes.

For those who would like to speak with the Commissioner, scheduling will be based on first-come, first-serve. The Commissioner will see a total of 18 people, with each meeting lasting no more than 10 minutes.
