FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) is investigating the death of an inmate at Central State Prison in Macon, Ga., as an apparent suicide.

On July 24, at approximately 8:45 a.m., Correctional Officers found inmate Michael Allan Perry (GDC#807430) unresponsive in his cell. Emergency Medical Services were called and life saving measures were performed. Perry was pronounced deceased by the coroner at approximately 9:48 a.m. GDC is conducting an investigation into the death, as standard procedure. 

Perry was sentenced in Jackson County for rape, child molestation, cruelty to children, and aggravated sexual battery, with a maximum release date of 2100.
