New Deputy Warden of Administration at Georgia State Prison

Vikki Irwin Reassigned
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Interim Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the reassignment of Vikki Irwin to deputy warden of administration at Georgia State Prison (SP) effective January 1, 2019. As deputy warden of administration, Irwin will be responsible for overseeing the business office, property/supply operations and food service departments at the facility which houses 1,374 male offenders at the facility.
“Irwin has worked with the department for almost 20 years and in that time she has excelled through the ranks,” Ward said. “Her experience and knowledge will serve her well at her new assignment.”
Irwin began her career with GDC in 1999 as a part-time storekeeper at Bostic SP. In 2000 she was promoted to a secretary II and in 2001, she became the warden’s secretary at Scott SP. Upon the closure of Scott SP, she transferred to Washington SP, still serving as the warden’s secretary. In 2006, Irwin was promoted to an accountant paraprofessional, and then in 2011, she was promoted to administrative operations coordinator II/business manager. She was promoted to deputy warden of administration at Smith SP in 2015, where she currently serves.
Irwin is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She has completed the following departmental training: Basic Management Training, Advanced Management Training, Executive Basic Correctional Officer Training, Supervision I, II and III, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP Training); and other DOAS Purchasing classes, resulting in her GCPCA Certification.
