Tasherra Ward Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Tasherra Ward to deputy warden of administration at Autry State Prison (SP), effective June 1, 2019. In this role, Tasherra Ward will be responsible for overseeing the business office, property/supply operations and food service departments at the facility which houses 1,700 medium-security male offenders.
“Ward has proven to be an exceptional leader at every level,” Timonthy Ward said. “We are confident that her experience and knowledge of business will serve her and Autry SP well, as she takes the next step in her career.”
Tasherra Ward began her career with the GDC in 2013 as a correctional officer at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison. In 2014, she transferred to the Records Department as a clerk, and in 2016, she was promoted to an accountant paraprofessional. In 2017, Tasherra Ward transferred to Burruss Correctional Training Center as an accountant paraprofessional, and was promoted to the Engineering and Construction Services Unit at State Offices South at Tift Campus in 2018 as an accountant paraprofessional. In 2018, Tasherra Ward was promoted to business manager at West Central Integrated Treatment Facility, where she currently serves.
Tasherra Ward is pursuing her master’s degree in human services at Argosy University. She has received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Saint Leo University, an associate degree in accounting and an associate degree in criminal justice from Southern Crescent Technical College. Tasherra Ward has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Supervision I, II and III, Management I, II and III, Georgia Certified Purchasing Associates (GCPA) and Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP).
