New Deputy Director of Field Operations Named

Ahmed Holt Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Ahmed Holt, Assistant Regional Director of the North Region with Facilities Operations, to Deputy Director of Field Operations, effective June 1st. Holt will assist in the oversight of daily operations of state facilities.
“Serving the Georgia Department of Corrections with more than 17 years of experience in various roles throughout the agency, Holt will be an asset in his new role within our Field Operations unit,” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier.
Holt began his career with the GDC in 2001 as a Probation Officer, taking on various roles ranging from Court Services to Specialized Supervision Officer. In 2006, he was assigned as Manager of the Sex Offender Administration Unit and in 2010, he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Rutledge State Prison. He held this position until his promotion to Deputy Director of Audits and Compliance at the central office in 2011. In 2012, he was promoted to Warden of Central State Prison and transferred to Phillips State Prison in 2014. In 2018, he was promoted to the Assistant Regional Director of the North Region for Facilities Operations.
Holt holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Savannah State University and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University’s Command College. He has completed various certification programs, including Basic Probation Officer Training, Basic Management Training, POST Instructor Program, Corrections Leadership Institute and Warden’s Peer Interaction Program. He is a member of the Georgia Prison Warden’s Association, Southern States Correctional Association, Pi Alpha Alpha National Honor Society, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
