New Assistant Regional Director for the North Region

Ahmed Holt Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Ahmed Holt, Warden at Phillips State Prison, to Assistant Regional Director of the North Region with Facilities Operations, effective January 1, 2018. Holt will assist with the oversight and management of 16 facilities through the North Georgia Region.
“In his 16 years with the Department, Ahmed has gained invaluable knowledge and experience in many areas within Corrections,” said Commissioner Dozier. “We are confident that Ahmed excel in his new role as Assistant Director for the North Region.”
Holt began his career with the Department in 2001 as a Probation Officer, taking on various roles ranging from Court Services to Specialized Supervision Officer. In 2005, Holt was promoted to Probation Officer III and was assigned as Manager of the Sex Offender Administration Unit in 2006. In 2010, he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment at Rutledge State Prison. Then the following year, Holt was promoted to Deputy Director of Audits & Compliance in Central Office. In 2012, he was returned back to Facilities Operations to serve as Warden of Central State Prison. Holt transferred, in 2014, to Phillips State Prison to serve as Warden.
Holt holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Political Science from Savannah State University. He also graduated from Columbus State University’s Command College with a Master’s of Science degree in Public Administration. He has completed the following departmental training: Basic Probation Officer Training (BPOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), POST Instructor Program, Corrections Leadership Institute and the Warden’s Peer Interaction Program.
