New Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Smith State Prison

Willesha Warren Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Willesha Warren to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Smith State Prison (SP) effective February 15, 2022. As deputy warden of care and treatment, Warren will oversee the supervision of educational programs, health services, library services, counseling programs, recreational services and the mental health services of approximately 1,300 male offenders.
"Warren has proven to be an invaluable team member since beginning her career with the agency," said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward. "We are confident that her dedication and commitment to the mission will benefit the staff and offenders at Smith SP."
Warren began her career with the Department in 2015 as a Behavioral Health Counselor at Smith SP. In 2018 she promoted to Behavioral Health Counselor III at Lee Arrendale SP, and in 2020, she transferred to Coastal SP in the same role, where she currently serves.
Warren obtained a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Savannah State University, and a Master in Criminal Justice from Coppin State University. Her departmental training consists of Basic Counselor Training, Addiction Certification Preparation Program, Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor (CADC-II), and Supervision I, II, and III.
