Marjan Mayfield Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Marjan Mayfield to deputy warden of administration at Whitworth Women’s Facility, effective June 1, 2019. In this role, Mayfield will be responsible for overseeing the business office, property/supply operations and food service departments at the facility which houses approximately 450 medium-security female offenders. 

“Mayfield has become a valuable asset since she began her career with the department,” Ward said. “We are thankful for her dedication and look forward to her bringing her administrative experience to Whitworth Women’s Facility.”

Mayfield began her career with the GDC in 2005 as a correctional officer at Lee Arrendale State Prison (SP).  In 2011, she transferred to Human Resources (HR) as a HR technician, and, in 2015, she was promoted to HR manager.  In 2018, Mayfield was promoted to the facility compliance specialist at Whitworth Women’s Facility, where she currently serves.   

Mayfield is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in pre-law at Emmanuel College, and has received her certification in business administration from North Georgia Technical College. Mayfield has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Advanced Management Training, Society for Human Resource Management Training, POST Instructor Training and the Professional Management Program through Columbus State University.
