New Deputy Warden of Security at Rogers State Prison

Marjorie Montgomery Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Marjorie Montgomery, Unit Manager at Smith State Prison (SP), to Deputy Warden of Security at Rogers SP, effective September 16, 2026. As Deputy Warden of Security, Montgomery will be responsible for overseeing security staff members and 1,332 male offenders.

“Marjorie has consistently demonstrated her commitment and professionalism throughout her twenty-six-year tenure with the department,” said Commissioner Oliver. “We are confident that her knowledge of corrections and unwavering commitment to the GDC mission will serve her well as she takes on this new role.”

Montgomery began her career with the GDC in 2000 at Coastal SP as a Correctional Officer, and in 2013 she joined the Correctional Emergency Response Team (CERT). During her tenure at Coastal SP, she was promoted to Sergeant and Lieutenant. In 2019, she was promoted to Chief of Security at Georgia SP, and following its closure, she was reassigned to Rogers SP. In 2024, she was promoted to Unit Manager at Smith SP, where she currently serves.

Montgomery received an associate’s degree in computer networking. Her departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic CERT Training, Sergeant’s Academy, Lieutenant’s Academy, and POST Instructor Training.
