New Deputy Director of Data Management and Research

Ashley Hansen Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Ashley Hansen, Director of the Offender Administration (OA) Unit, to Deputy Director of Data Management and Research, effective September 16, 2026. As Deputy Director of Data Management and Research, Hansen will be responsible for supporting the agency’s transition toward a more data-driven approach to correctional operations and decision-making and will serve as a bridge between agency data and correctional operations.

"Ashley has consistently displayed a strong work ethic and exceptional leadership qualities in each position she has held,” said Commissioner Oliver. “We are confident she will continue to lead with integrity as she takes on this new role as Deputy Director of Data Management and Research.”

Hansen began her career with the GDC in 2007 as a Probation Officer in the Griffin Judicial Circuit. In 2012, she was promoted to Office Manager of the Thomaston Probation Office, and later that year, she was promoted to Center Administrator of the Griffin Day Reporting Center. In 2015, she was promoted to Training Program Manager/Field Training Coordinator, and in 2017, she was promoted to Deputy Director of the OA Unit. In 2022, she was promoted to Director of the OA Unit, where she currently serves.

Hansen earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Columbus State University and a master’s in public safety administration through the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College at Columbus State University. Her departmental training consists of Basic Probation Officer Training, POST Instructor Training, Warden’s Pre-command, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Firearms Instructor, Advanced Management Training, Corrections Leadership Institute, Senior POST Instructor, Field Training Officer Certification, Health and Wellness Instructor, and Executive Basic Correctional Officer Training.
