Jimmy Kellom Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Jimmy Kellom, Unit Manager at Telfair State Prison (SP), to Deputy Warden of Security at Wilcox SP, effective May 1, 2026. As Deputy Warden of Security, Kellom will be responsible for overseeing security staff members and 1,838 male offenders.

"Jimmy has consistently proven himself to be a professional and effective leader during his twenty one-year tenure with the agency,” said Commissioner Oliver. “We are confident that he will continue to be steadfast in upholding the GDC mission as he takes on his new role as Deputy Warden of Security.”

Kellom began his career with the GDC at Wilcox SP in 2005 as a Correctional Officer and in 2018, he was promoted to Sergeant. In 2022, he was promoted to Lieutenant at Telfair SP, and in 2023, he was promoted to Captain. In 2024, he was promoted to Unit Manager, where he currently serves.

Kellom is currently enrolled in the Professional Management Program with Columbus State University. His departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Management, I, II, and III, Supervision I, II, and III, Sergeant’s Academy, Chief of Security Academy, Unit Manager Academy, and Special Operations Training.
