Doreen Curtis Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Doreen Curtis, Assistant Superintendent at Bleckley Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Center (RSAT), to Superintendent at Bleckley RSAT, effective February 1, 2026. As Superintendent, Curtis will be responsible for overseeing staff and supervising approximately 200 male detainees.

"Doreen has been a dedicated team member who consistently leads by example," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "We are confident that she will continue to uphold the GDC mission as she takes on her new role as Superintendent."

Curtis began her career with the department in 2005 as a Correctional Officer at Hancock State Prison (SP) and served in that role at Johnson SP and Emanuel Women’s Facility. In 2015, she was promoted to Sergeant at Emanuel Probation Detention Center and in 2017, she was promoted to Chief of Security. In 2023, she was promoted to Captain at Emanuel Women’s Facility. In 2024, she was promoted to Assistant Superintendent at Bleckley RSAT, where she currently serves.  

Curtis’ departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Supervision I, II, and III, Management I, II, and III, Fire Inspection I, II, and III, Chief of Security Academy, Unit Manager Academy, and Assistant Superintendent Academy.
