New Special Assistant to the Warden at the Special Management Unit
Sheneca King Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Sheneca King, Deputy Warden of Security at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison (GDCP), to Special Assistant to the Warden at the Special Management Unit, effective December 1, 2025. As Special Assistant to the Warden, King will be aiding the Warden with the daily operations of the facility and management of staff and offenders.
"King continually demonstrates a professional demeanor and has gained a wealth of correctional knowledge that will serve her well as she takes on her new role," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "We look forward to her continued leadership and using her vast correctional knowledge as she continues to uphold the mission of the agency.”
King joined GDC in 2002 as a Correctional Officer at Rivers SP. During her tenure at Rivers SP, she was promoted to Sergeant and Lieutenant. She also served as a Lieutenant at Men’s/Bostick SP and Central SP. In 2011, she was promoted to Captain at Central SP and in 2013, she was promoted to Unit Manager. In 2019 she was promoted to Deputy Warden of Security at Dooly SP, and in 2022, she was reassigned in that same role to GDCP, where she currently serves.
King received her associate degree in criminal justice from Kaplan University. She has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Sergeant’s Academy, Basic Counseling Training, Supervision I, II, and III, Management I II, and III, Professional Management Program through Columbus State University, Deputy Warden of Security Academy, and Warden’s Pre-Command.
