New Deputy Warden of Security at Telfair State Prison
Denisha Foster Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Denisha Foster, Unit Manager at Telfair State Prison (SP) to Deputy Warden of Security at Telfair State SP effective January 16, 2025. As Deputy Warden of Security, Foster will be responsible for overseeing staff members and 1,428 male offenders.
“Denisha has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic and exceptional leadership skills,” said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. “We are confident that she will continue to excel as she takes the next steps in her career.”
Foster began her career with the GDC at Wilcox SP in 2007 as a Correctional Officer. During her tenure at Wilcox SP, she was promoted through the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Unit Manager. In 2021, she transferred to Telfair SP as Unit Manager, where she currently serves.
Foster received a technical diploma in early childhood care and education from East Central Technical College. Her departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Effective Communication Training, POST IT, Supervision I, II, and III, Management I, II, and III, and Unit Manager Academy.
