Jack “Randy” Sauls Elected 

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) announced Jack “Randy” Sauls, Assistant Commissioner of GDC’s Health Services Division has been elected to serve on the American Correctional Association’s (ACA) Delegate Assembly as a Board of Governors in the Healthcare role. More than 150 delegates constitute the assembly including at-large representatives from every 16 components of the correctional system.  The Delegates study proposed policies to ensure the documents are clear and concise and effectively communicate ACA’s Principles and Vision as well as the collective will of the Delegate Assembly.

“As the accrediting body for corrections agencies across the nation, the ACA sets the standards we should all strive towards and we are proud to serve and represent our correctional colleagues as we share in our collective commitment to public safety,” said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. 

Sauls joined the GDC in 2016, as Assistant Commissioner of Health Services from his most recent position as a Consultant and Adviser with the South Georgia Toxicology and Primera Health Group. His past experience includes more than 20 years serving in various leadership positions at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Ga., including 11 years as Chief Operating Officer and four years as Chief Executive Officer. Prior to serving at the Medical Center, Sauls served as Administrator at Lanier Health Services and Interim Administrator at Clinch Memorial Hospital.  

Sauls holds an Associate of Science degree from Abraham Baldwin College, a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Georgia, a Master of Education degree from the University of Georgia, and a Master of Business Administration from Albany State University. Sauls is a fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives, a member of the Georgia Association of Healthcare Executives, and a member of the Association of University Programs in Healthcare Administration. In addition, he has served as an adjunct faculty member in Healthcare Administration with the Harley Langdale, Jr. College of Business as well as served on numerous healthcare associated Boards.
