New Warden at Baldwin State Prison
Teketa Jester Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Teketa Jester to Warden at Baldwin State Prison (SP) effective November 16, 2024. As Warden, Jester will be responsible for overseeing all staff members and approximately 686 male offenders.
“Teketa has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities throughout her career,” said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. “We are confident she will continue to excel in her new role while upholding our mission and values.”
Jester began her career with the department in 1997 as Correctional Officer at Metro SP, and in 199, she transferred to Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison (GDCP). In 2003, Jester was promoted to Sergeant at West Central Probation Detention Center and returned to GDCP in the same role. During her tenure at GDCP, she was promoted through the ranks of Lieutenant, Captain, Unit Manager, and Deputy Warden of Security. In 2023, she was promoted to Warden at Central SP, where she currently serves.
Jester holds an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Southern Crescent College and is pursuing a bachelor's degree from Georgia Military College. Her departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Sergeants Academy, Basic Management, Supervision I, II, and III, Management I, II, and III, Deputy Warden of Security Academy, and Warden's Pre Command.
