New Deputy Warden of Security at Phillips State Prison
Joshua Fulbright Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Joshua Fulbright, Unit Manager at Lee Arrendale State Prison (SP) to Deputy Warden of Security at Phillips SP effective October 1, 2024. As Deputy Warden of Security, Fulbright will be responsible for overseeing security staff members and 787 male offenders.
“Joshua has been a dedicated leader in each position he has held,” said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. “We are proud to have him as a part of our team and are confident that his correctional knowledge will prove valuable to the mission and to the staff at Phillips SP.”
Fulbright began his career with the GDC at Lee Arrendale SP in 2011 as a Correctional Officer and in 2012, he assumed an active-duty position with the United States Army. Upon completion of his military assignment in 2015, he returned to Lee Arrendale SP, where he was promoted to Sergeant, and in 2016, he was promoted to Lieutenant. In 2018, he joined the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, transferred to the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office in 2019, and in 2021, he joined the Hartwell Police Department. In 2022, he rejoined the GDC as a Correctional Officer at Lee Arrendale SP, and in 2023, he was promoted to Unit Manager, where he currently serves.
Fulbright’s departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Law Enforcement Course, Supervision I, Sergeant’s Academy, Chief of Security Academy, and Unit Manager Academy.
