New Special Assistant to the Warden at Macon State Prison
Delvin Peoples Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Delvin Peoples, Deputy Warden of Security at Calhoun State Prison (SP) to Special Assistant to the Warden at Macon SP effective September 1, 2024. As Special Assistant to the Warden, Peoples will assist the Warden with daily operations of the facility and management of staff and offenders.
“Delvin has demonstrated exceptional leadership throughout his career and has been a dedicated team member who consistently leads by example,” said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. “We look forward to his continued leadership and using his vast correctional knowledge as he continues to uphold the mission of the agency in his new role.”
Peoples began his career with the GDC in 2006 as a Correctional Officer at Lee State Prison (SP). During his time at Lee SP, he served in various roles, including Sergeant, Tactical Squad Commander, CERT Sergeant, Lieutenant, and the Recruitment and Retention Lieutenant for the Southwest Region. In 2018, he was promoted to Assistant Superintendent at McEver Probation Detention Center and later that year he was promoted to Superintendent at Albany Transitional Center, where he served until its closure in 2019. At that time, he was reassigned to Calhoun SP as Deputy Warden of Security, where he served until August 2024.
Peoples’ departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Special Operations Training, the Professional Management Program through Columbus State University, Supervision I, II, and III, Effective Communications, Sergeant’s Academy, Supervision I, II, and III, Management I, II, and III, Wardens Pre-Command, and Deputy Warden of Security Training.
