Charles Hudson Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Charles Hudson, Chief of Security at Macon State Prison (SP) to Deputy Warden of Security at Dooly SP effective August 16, 2024. As Deputy Warden, Hudson is responsible for overseeing staff members and approximately 1,712 male offenders.

“Charles has consistently excelled in each position he has held within the agency,” said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. “We look forward to his continued dedication and leadership as he takes on his new role as Deputy Warden of Security.”

Hudson began his career with the GDC in 2007 as a Correctional Officer at Macon SP. During his tenure with GDC, Hudson advanced through the ranks from Sergeant to Tact Squad Commander, and Lieutenant in 2018. In 2020, he was also promoted to Chief of Security at Macon SP, where he served until August 2024.

Hudson’s departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Advanced Management Training, Tactical Basic Training, Professional Management Program through Columbus State University, Sergeant's Academy, Lieutenant's Academy, Chief of Security Training, Management I, II, and III, and Unit Manager Training.
