New Deputy Warden of Security at Pulaski State Prison

Andrea Showers Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Andrea Showers, Assistant Superintendent at Bleckley Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Center (RSAT) to Deputy Warden of Security at Pulaski State Prison (SP) effective April 1, 2024. As Deputy Warden of Security, Showers is responsible for overseeing staff members and 1,190 female offenders.

 “Andrea has demonstrated a strong work ethic and exceptional leadership skills,” said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. “We are confident that her correctional knowledge will benefit the staff and offenders at Pulaski SP.”

Showers began her career with the GDC at Telfair State Prison (SP) in 2003 as a Correctional Officer. In 2011, she was transferred to Pulaski SP as a General Office Clerk and was then promoted to Property and Supply Supervisor in 2013. In 2014, she was promoted to Behavioral Health Counselor II at Telfair SP. In 2018, she transferred to the Department of Community Supervision (DCS) where she served as a DCS Officer and Drug Court Officer. She returned to the GDC in 2020 as a Behavioral Health Counselor II and was then promoted to Behavioral Health Counselor III. In 2022, she was promoted to Assistant Superintendent at Bleckley RSAT, where she served until April 2024.

Showers received her bachelor’s degree in social science with a concentration in Mental Health from Mercer University. Her departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Counselor Training, Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment Academy, and Assistant Superintendent Training.
