Karen Finch Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Karen Finch, Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Rogers State Prison (SP) to Deputy Warden of Security at Coastal SP effective August 1, 2024. As Deputy Warden, Finch will be responsible for overseeing security staff members and 1,570 medium-security male offenders at the facility.

"Finch has been a dependable leader during her tenure with the department,” said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. “We look forward to her continued leadership and applying her correctional knowledge as she takes on her new role at Coastal SP."

Finch began her career with the department in 2009 as a Correctional Officer at Coastal SP. During her tenure at Coastal SP, she was promoted to Behavioral Health Counselor II, Behavioral Health Counselor III and Social Services Program Consultant. In 2021, she was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Rogers SP, where she currently serves.  

Finch received her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Grand Valley State University. Her departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Counselor Training, Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment Academy, POST Instructor Training, and various counseling programs.
