Doreen Curtis Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Doreen Curtis, Captain at Emanuel Women’s Facility to Assistant Superintendent at Bleckley Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Center (RSAT) effective August 1, 2024. As Assistant Superintendent, Curtis will be responsible for assisting the Superintendent with the daily operations of the facility, overseeing staff, and supervising approximately 200 male detainees.

"Doreen has demonstrated a remarkable work ethic while working her way up through the ranks,” said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. “We are confident she will continue to uphold the values and mission of the agency while taking on her new role as Assistant Superintendent."

Curtis began her career with the department in 2005 as a Correctional Officer at Hancock State Prison (SP) and served in that role at Johnson SP and Emanuel Women’s Facility. In 2015, she was promoted to Sergeant at Emanuel Probation Detention Center and in 2017, she was promoted to Chief of Security. In 2023, she was promoted to Captain at Emanuel Women’s Facility, where she currently serves.  

Curtis’ departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Supervision I, II, and III, Management I, II, and III, Sergeants Academy, Chief of Security Academy, and Unit Manager Academy.
