New Warden at Phillips State Prison
Aaron Pineiro Reassigned
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the reassignment of Aaron Pineiro, Warden at Coastal State Prison (SP) to Warden at Phillips SP, effective June 16, 2024. As Warden, Pineiro will be responsible for overseeing all staff members and approximately 785 close-security male offenders.
“Aaron has been a dedicated team member who consistently leads by example,” said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. “We are confident his vast correctional knowledge will help ensure success for both the staff and offenders at Phillips SP.”
Pineiro began his career with the GDC in 2007 as Correctional Officer at Valdosta SP. In 2008, he transferred to the Southwest Probation Detention Center as the ID and Intake Officer, until its closure in 2010. He then returned to Valdosta SP as a Counselor, and in 2015, he was promoted to Chief Counselor. In 2016, he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Georgia SP, and in 2019, he was reassigned to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Valdosta SP. In 2022, he was promoted to Warden at Coastal SP, where he currently serves.
Pineiro’s departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Basic Counselor Training, Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment Academy, and Warden’s Pre-Command.
