Phillip Glenn Reassigned

FORSYTH, Ga.— Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Brian Owens announced the reassignment of Phillip Glenn to Deputy Warden of Administration at Coastal State Prison effective November 1, 2014. Formally Deputy Warden of Administration at Smith State Prison, Glenn will now be responsible for overseeing the Business Office, Property/Supply Operations, Maintenance and Food Service departments at the facility housing 1,558 medium security male inmates located in Garden City.

“Phillip has been serving the Department for over 16 years now,” said Commissioner Brian Owens. “We look forward to his continued leadership in carrying out the Department’s mission in his new facility.”    

Glenn began his career with the Department in 1998 as Craftsman at Valdosta State Prison. In 2004, Glenn was promoted to Trades Supervisor at Coastal State Prison. In 2011, Glenn was promoted to Engineer at Smith State Prison. In February 2014, he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Administration at Smith State Prison, where he most recently served.

Glenn has an AutoCad Training certification from Auburn University. During his time with the Department, he has completed the following training courses: Basic Management Training (BMT), Introduction to State Purchasing (A & B), P-Card Principles, P-Card, Evaluating P-Card Management, Fundamentals of State Purchasing, Basic of Writing Specifications, eProcurement P.O. for Buyers, Strategic Sourcing, eProcurement for Requestors, and eProcurement for Approvers.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 55,000 state prisoners and more than 160,000 probationers.  It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
