Tomeka Simpson-Dumas Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Tomeka Simpson-Dumas to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator effective September 16, 2019.  As ADA Coordinator, Mrs. Simpson-Dumas will be responsible for the oversight and review of Title II requirements of ADA.

“Simpson-Dumas has shown exceptional leadership skills in each position she has held,” said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will benefit the agency.”

Mrs. Simpson-Dumas began her career with the State of Georgia in 1998 as a Senior Social Service Technician at the Albany Area Community Service Board, and in 1999, she started working with the Georgia Department of Labor (DOL) as a DOL Specialist and Job Order Taker. In 2000, she began her career as a Probation Officer at Central DeKalb Probation Office and worked at both Gateway Diversion Center and Covington Probation Office respectively. In 2004 she promoted to Probation Officer II .  She began working with the GDC Office of Professional Standards in 2006 with the Inmate Affairs and Appeals Unit until her promotion to the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) as a Criminal Investigator in 2010.  Thereafter, she was promoted to Senior Correctional Manager/Auditor in 2015. In 2017, she was promoted to Statewide Senior Auditor.

Mrs. Simpson-Dumas graduated from Troy University with her Master’s in Criminal Justice and from Albany State University with a Bachelor of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. Throughout her tenure with the State of Georgia she has completed over 1351hrs of Post Certified interdepartmental and other State Law Enforcement trainings.
