2017 Georgia Correctional Industries Employee of the Year Named

Richard “Ricky” Brooks recognized
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) honored Georgia Correctional Industries (GCI) employee, Richard “Ricky” Brooks, as the Georgia Correctional Industries (GCI) Employee of the Year at the 14th Annual GDC Awards ceremony on June 19 at GDC headquarters in Forsyth, Ga.
Several key officials were on hand for the ceremony, which was attended by more than 200 guests. Making the award presentation with Commissioner Greg Dozier was Chief of Staff Timothy C. Ward, Assistant Commissioners Ricky Myrick, Scott Poitevint, Jay Sanders, Randy Sauls, and Assistant Director of Professional Development Tim Williams and Director of Professional Standards Clay Nix.
“Ricky’s enthusiasm, communication skills, and professional demeanor makes him a very effective manager and it is my pleasure to recognize and thank him all he has done at GCI,” said Chris Tiller, Georgia Correctional Industries Executive Director.
Brooks is the Food Distribution Unit Manager and is responsible for the supervision of 16 employees, along with 56 offenders assigned to two food distribution warehouses, one vehicle repair shop and one meat processing plant. This unit is responsible for the statewide distribution of approximately $2 million in food commodities monthly, as well as processing over three million pounds of beef and chicken products annually. Brooks handles this tremendous responsibility in exemplary fashion.
