Kathy Seabolt Appointed

FORSYTH - Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Brian Owens announced the appointment of Kathy Seabolt to Field Operations Manager for Female Services, effective August 1, 2014.  Seabolt has served as Warden of Lee Arrendale State Prison since July 1, 2010. As the Field Operations Manager for Female Services, Seabolt will oversee nine facilities to include Lee Arrendale State Prison, Pulaski State Prison, Emanuel Facility, Whitworth Women’s Facility, Helms Facility, Bleckley Probation Detention Center, West Central Integrated Treatment Facility, Metro Transitional Center and Lee Arrendale Transitional Center.

“Kathy has an outstanding track record,” said Commissioner Owens.  “During her 29 years of service she has worked her way up through the ranks and we look forward to her continued leadership as the Field Operations Manager for our Female Services.”

Seabolt began her employment with the Department as a Correctional Officer at Lee Arrendale State Prison in 1985. In 1987, she was promoted to Secretary of the Diagnostic and Mental Health Units at Lee Arrendale SP. In 1988, Seabolt was promoted to Counselor Aide of the Diagnostic Unit at Lee Arrendale SP. In 1990, Seabolt transferred to Rivers State Prison and served as a Correctional Officer until 1992 when she was transferred to Johnson State Prison to serve as an Administrative Assistant. In 1992, Seabolt was promoted to Counselor at Hancock State Prison and in 1994, she was promoted to Senior Mental Health Counselor of Lee Arrendale SP. In 1997, Seabolt was promoted to Director of the North Georgia Area Training Academy until her promotion to Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment at Lee Arrendale SP in 2006. In 2008, she was promoted to Warden at Metro State Prison. In 2010, Seabolt was reassigned to Warden of Lee Arrendale SP, where she most recently served.
                                               
Seabolt earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Piedmont College and a Master of Public Administration degree from Georgia Law Enforcement Command College. She is a graduate of the Corrections Leadership Institute through the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government and the Professional Management Program through Columbus State University. Seabolt is currently a doctoral candidate in Argosy University’s Professional Management Program, and is also an adjunct faculty member in the Criminal Justice Program at North Georgia Technical College.
