Cathy Lewis Reassigned

Forsyth — Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Homer Bryson announced the reassignment of Cathy Lewis from Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment at Rogers State Prison to Telfair State Prison effective September 16, 2015. Lewis will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of medical, mental health, education and counseling services of more than 1,300 male inmates.

“Cathy has demonstrated outstanding skills and professionalism," said Commissioner Bryson. "The staff and inmates at Telfair will benefit from her knowledge and experience.”

Lewis began her career with the Department in 2006 as a Counselor at Telfair State Prison. After a brief separation from the department, she was hired as the Chief Counselor at Montgomery State Prison. She was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment at Rogers State Prison in 2013, where she currently serves.

Lewis received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Brewton Parker College, a Master's Degree in Social Work from Columbus State University, and has completed Advanced Management Training, Correctional Leadership Institute and Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment Academy. She is also a hostage negotiator.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 55,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
