Tribute to Vietnam Veterans
FORSYTH, Ga. – Continuing our mission to provide opportunities for positive change for offenders, the Georgia Department of Corrections is highlighting facility events and offender education and training programs across the state in our Real Time, Reel Life video series. These brief videos provide details about events or offender programs and showcase the experiences of participants in these programs.
New videos are released regularly, and are available to view through the Department of Corrections website on the GDC YouTube Channel at GACorrections. This month’s video features a unique tribute to Vietnam veterans by the offenders and staff at Walker State Prison. More than 200 offenders constructed a quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall and unveiled it to the community during a “Welcome Home” ceremony on Veteran’s Day. This unique tribute showcased the dedication of the offenders to giving back to their community by honoring both those who served in Vietnam, and all veterans.
