MISSION:
Provide a sanctioning option for probationers who require more security or supervision than that provided by regular community supervision. Centers are highly structured with regimented schedules that include supervised, un-paid work in surrounding communities and programming geared toward making offenders more successful in the community. On 32 acres in Emanuel County, this is one of the first detention centers to be completely constructed with offender labor. Emanuel Probation Detention Center received its first detainees on October 18, 1994.
HOUSING:
Six open dormitories with double and triple bunk beds.
WORK DETAILS:
Outside work details travel to Emanuel, Candler, Washington, Tattnall and Toombs and the City of Swainsboro. Trustees are in Twin City and Swainsboro. Emanuel Probation Detention Center manages an 8-acre vegetable garden with three greenhouses.
Inside work details are Sanitation, Dorm Orderlies, Maintenance, Laundry and Kitchen.

DIRECTIONS:
Take I-75S to I-16. Take I-16E to Metter and go north on GA-23, which is approximately 17 miles to Twin City. Turn left onto Sixth Street and then turn left on Oglesby Pond Road. Emanuel Probation Detention Center is on the right.
