Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,580 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
October 17 at Rogers SP, a person was observed near the facility grounds. A search led to a traffic stop which found civilians Kenneth Walton and Neil Cole. An unknown amount of tobacco was found in their vehicle. Both individuals were arrested and transported to the Tatnall County Jail.
On October 17 at Telfair State Prison, two individuals were seen walking behind the facility. A search found both suspects were carrying bags containing several cellphones. The two unidentified civilians were arrested and transported to the Telfair County jail.
On October 17 at Valdosta State Prison, an individual was spotted near the facility’s wood line. A search found civilian Dallas Pugh with unknown contraband wrapped in black electrical tape. Civilian Pugh was arrested and transported to Lowndes County Jail.
On October 15 at Wilcox State Prison, the canine unit recovered the following contraband on facility grounds: tobacco, lighters, rolling paper, cell phones, phone chargers and sawblades. Civilian Carlton Monson was arrested and transported to the Wilcox County Jail.
