Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,386 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On November 22 at Georgia State Prison, a traffic stop found civilian Michael Hedges near the facility with contraband in his vehicle. He was found with a green leafy substance, tobacco, a gun, bullets, loaded gun magazines, a smartphone, tape, plastic bags, weight scale, cooler, cups, and packaging material. Civilian Hedges was arrested and transported to the Tattnall County Jail.
On November 22 at Calhoun State, people were seen throwing items over the facility’s fence. A search found Brendon Hudson, Dontavious Davis, Sequoia Herrington and Lakesha Herrington with multiple bundles of contraband. All four civilians were arrested and transported to the Calhoun County Jail.
On November 18 at Baldwin State Prison, a subject was seen behind the facility’s maintenance shop. A search found 3 individuals with a bundle of contraband. Civilians Kyle Croft, Beverly McCard and Aubrian Oliver were arrested and transported to the Baldwin County Jail.
On November 15 at Autry State Prison, an individual was seen in the wooded area behind the facility. A search found Civilian Darius Hester in possession of multiple bundles of contraband. Hester was arrested and transported to the Mitchell County Jail.
On November 15 at Dooly State Prison, unidentified individuals were seen near the facility’s wood line. A search of the perimeter found multiple unopened packages wrapped in black bags. The Dooly County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop near the facility, and three unidentified subjects were arrested and transported to the Dooly County Jail.
On November 11 at Dooly State Prison, security staff spotted one individual on facility grounds and one individual in a vehicle near the facility. The two unidentified males were arrested and taken to the Dooly County Jail.
On November 10 at Baldwin State Prison, civilian Eaton was seen walking behind the facility’s maintenance shop and was found with marijuana and methamphetamine. He was arrested and transported to the Baldwin County Jail.
