Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,404 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On May 16 at Johnson State Prison, a civilian was spotted outside the perimeter fence. After searching the area, multiple packages of contraband consisting of tobacco, were located. Civilian John Spaulding was arrested by the Office of Professional Standards, and Johnson County Sheriff's Office.
On May 12 at Macon State Prison, a smell of marijuana was noticed to be coming from Officer Jartavious Williams, and a search found marijuana on his person. Officer Williams was arrested by Macon County Sheriff’s Office.
