Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,187 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On March 16, 2019 at Hays State Prison, security staff noticed visitor Heather Jastrzebski had a black oblong-shaped item in her possession. After she attempted to dispose of the item, security staff recovered the item and discovered approximately 43.6 grams of methamphetamine. Jastrzebski was arrested by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.

On March 15, 2019 at Wilcox State Prison, security staff searched Officer Tanjania Moss and discovered approximately 106 grams of marijuana. Moss was arrested by the Abbeville Police Department.

On March 11, 2019 at Wilcox State Prison, security staff discovered less than an ounce of marijuana near the facility. Civilian Destinee Taylor was arrested by the Abbeville Police Department.
