Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,060 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the stat
On May 6 at Georgia State Prison, security staff noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from Officer A’lana Green as she attempted to enter the facility. An OPS Special Agent recovered 2 bags of marijuana and a box of headache powder. A further search of her vehicle yielded 3 weapons. Officer Green was arrested by Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office.
On May 5 at Hays State Prison, visitor Raynisha Reed was questioned by security staff and admitted to having contraband on her person. Security staff found 2 bundles of an unknown substance. Visitor Reed was arrested by Chattooga County Sheriff's Office.
On May 5 at Coastal State Prison, Officer Savann Taylor consented to a search, which yielded 2 bundles of contraband containing 8 ounces each of tobacco. Officer Taylor was arrested by Chatham County Sheriff's Office.
