Contraband Arrest at Smith State Prison and Riverbend Correctional Facility

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,033 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the stat

On February 24 at Smith State Prison, during a supervised search of vehicles entering the parking lot, the GDC Canine Unit alerted on a vehicle driven by visitor Shasta Stethans.  After a search of the vehicle, 2 grams of marijuana was discovered.  Visitor Stethans was arrested by Glennville Police Department.

On February 24 at Smith State Prison, during a supervised search of vehicles entering the parking lot, the GDC Canine Unit alerted on a vehicle drive by visitor Brandyn Bloodshaw. After a search of the vehicle, 1.4 grams of marijuana was discovered.  Visitor Bloodshaw was arrested by Glennville Police Department.

On February 25 at Smith State Prison, vsitor Alisha Howard could not clear the body scanner at the front entrance.  After a search of her person, 18 balloons of marijuana were discovered.  Visitor Howard was arrested by Glennville Police Department and transported to Tattnall County Jail. 

On February 25 at Riverbend Correctional Facility, visitor Marquita Jordan was arrested by Milledgeville Police Department after an offender she was visiting was found in possession .49 grams of marijuana.   Visitor Jordan consented to search of her vehicle, where a loaded weapon was recovered. She was transported to Baldwin County Jail.
