Contraband Arrest at Wilcox State Prison and Jenkins Correctional Facility

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,029 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the stat

On February 4 at Wilcox State Prison, Correctional Officer Falon Young was found to have 3 bundles of contraband on her person, during a routine search. Officer Young was arrested by Wilcox County Sheriff's Office. 

On February 3 at Jenkins Correctional Facility, visitor Edris Hurt-Ross was observed by security staff placing a jacket in a locker and an item into a plant. 1 cell phone, 1 cell phone battery and 15 grams of marijuana were located in the jacket and plant. Visitor Hurt-Ross was arrested by Jenkins County Sheriff’s Office.
