Contraband Arrest at Baldwin State Prison and Johnson State Prison

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,026 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On January 21 at Baldwin State Prison, visitor Victoria Fraser was observed passing an item into a cookie bag for an offender she was visiting.  The cookie bag contained 13 balloons containing 0.36 grams of Methamphetamine inside. Visitor Fraser was transported to Baldwin County Jail.   

On January 21 at Johnson State Prison, the Front Portal Sergeant noticed a bulge on Officer Willie Haynes waist as he attempted to enter the facility.  Officer Haynes was questioned and he turned over 6 packages of tobacco. Officer Haynes was placed under arrest by GDC Office of Professional Standards and was transported by Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.      

On January 18 at Johnson State Prison, an officer noticed a bulge on RSAT Counselor Ashley McCoy’s person as she was attempting to enter the facility.  RSAT Counselor McCoy was found to have 1 bundle on her person and 1 bundle in her vehicle of an unknown amount of tobacco and rolling papers.  She was arrested by GDC Office of Professional Standards and was transported to Johnson County Jail.
