Contraband Arrest at Wilcox State Prison
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,023 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On January 13 at Wilcox State Prison, visitor Nakia Taylor was observed passing an unknown substance from her mouth to the mouth of an offender. Visitor Taylor was arrested by Abbeville Police Department.
On January 15 at Wilcox State Prison, the Front Portal Sergeant noticed a bulge on Correctional Officer Shankilria King’s side as she was attempting to enter the facility. Officer King consented to be searched and three bundles of a green leafy substance were discovered. Officer King was arrested by Abbeville Police Department and transported to Dodge County Jail.
