Contraband Arrest a Central State Prison

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 799 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

  1. On March 6, at Central State Prison, visitor Courtney Smith attempted to enter the facility, but could not clear the metal detector. She was searched and after lifting her shirt 2 packages wrapped in duct tape were detected tucked into her pants. The 2 packages contained a total of 1 LB of compressed tobacco. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Department arrested visitor Smith. 
     

The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
