Colwell Probation Detention Center Hosts Volunteer Training and Appreciation Dinner

Forty-one Volunteers Attend

FORSYTH, Ga. – On November 15, 2019 Colwell Probation Detention Center (PDC) in Blarisville, Ga held a four-hour volunteer appreciation training and dinner. Forty-one Colwell PDC volunteers who attended were presented information on topics ranging from Sexual Harassment, Prison Rape Elimination Act, dress code, and various others.

“GDC volunteers offer their time and service to make a positive difference in the lives of the offenders and staff,” said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward. “They are a critical part of our team and we are thankful for their service to our agency.”

Unveiled in February 2019 a new volunteer website and web-based application process allows greater efficiency, security, and functionality for individuals interested in volunteering within GDC facilities. Currently, there are more than 9,200 volunteers, trained to assist the offenders in many areas in facilities statewide.
