New Deputy Warden of Security at Augusta State Medical Prison

Tamika Harvey Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Tamika Harvey to Deputy Warden of Security at Augusta State Medical Prison (ASMP) effective August 16, 2019. As Deputy Warden of Security, Harvey will be responsible for overseeing approximately 351 security staff members and over 1,300 close security male offenders.
“Harvey has worked her way up through the ranks and displayed an exceptional work ethic,” Ward said. “We are confident that under her leadership the staff will continue to excel and will effectively manage the offenders at ASMP.”
Harvey began her career with the GDC in 2003 as a correctional officer at J.C. Larmore Probation Detention Center. In 2005, she was promoted to Probation Officer in the Atlanta Judicial Circuit. During her tenure as a Probation Officer, Harvey was promoted to Sex Offender Probation Officer II, Field Training Officer, and Community Service Impact Task Force Officer. In 2011, she was promoted to Internal Affairs Investigator in the Office of Professional Standards (OPS) Unit. During her tenure with OPS, she was promoted through the ranks of Criminal Investigator I, Criminal Investigator II and Criminal Investigator III, where she currently serves.
Harvey received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Georgia State University. She has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Probation Officer Training, Basic Law Enforcement Training (Mandate), Georgia Bureau of Investigation Training, POST Instructor Training, and Basic Management Training.
