New Deputy Warden of Security Named at Dodge State Prison

Carlos Jones Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Carlos Jones to Deputy Warden of Security at Dodge State Prison (SP) effective September 16, 2017. Jones will be responsible for supervising and managing all security staff and the overall management and operation of the facility housing over 600 medium security male offenders.
“We are grateful for Carlos’ 20 years of faithful service to the department,” said Commissioner Dozier. “We are confident that his knowledge and experience will be a great asset to Dodge State Prison.”
Jones began his career with GDC in 1997 as a Correctional Officer at Valdosta SP. During his tenure at Valdosta SP, he served as Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Administrative Lieutenant. In 2016, Jones was promoted to Captain at Johnson SP, where he currently serves.
Jones is currently pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. He has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), and the Professional Management Program (PMP).
The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 52,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
