New Deputy Warden Named at Walker State Prison

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Natalie Emery to Deputy Warden of Administration at Walker State Prison (SP) effective February 1, 2017. As Deputy Warden, Emery will be responsible for overseeing the Business Office, Property/Supply Operations, Maintenance and Food Service departments at the Faith & Character Based facility housing over 400 medium security male offenders in Rock Springs, Ga.
“Natalie has shown great leadership as Business Manager at Hays State Prison,” said Commissioner Dozier. “I am confident that she will continue to demonstrate the same level of excellence in her new role.”
Emery began her career with the Department in 1989 at Frank Scott SP as a Clerk Principal. In 1990, she transferred to Bostick SP as a Secretary Typist, and in 1991, she transferred to Hays SP as a Clerk Principal. Emery was promoted to an Accountant Paraprofessional in 1992. She was promoted in 2011 to her current position as the Business Manager at Hays SP.
Emery earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Georgia College. She has completed the following departmental training: Basic Management Training (BMT) and Governmental Accounting Part I & II.
The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 52,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
