FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Homer Bryson announced the promotion of Steve Eady as the Deputy Warden of Security of Wilcox State Prison effective November 16, 2015. As Deputy Warden, Eady will be responsible for supervising and managing all security staff and the overall management and operation of the facility. Wilcox State Prison currently houses 1,827 medium security male offenders.

“Since 1994, when Steve started with the Department, he has dedicated 21 years to Wilcox State Prison,” said Commissioner Bryson. “His knowledge of the interworking of that facility will be of great benefit in his new role as Deputy Warden of Security.”

Eady began his career with the Department in 1994 as a Correctional Officer at Wilcox State Prison. During his tenure at Wilcox State Prison, he has served in a variety of roles: Correctional Officer, Sergeant, TACT Squad Commander, Lieutenant, Captain and Unit Manager. In 2013, he was promoted to Unit Manager at Wilcox State Prison, where he currently served.  

Eady is currently pursuing a Criminal Justice degree from Wiregrass Technical College.  During his career with the Department, he completed Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), Advanced Management Training (AMT), Professional Management Program (PMP), and Corrections Leadership Institute (CLI).

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 55,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
