Brian Chambers Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. -- Commissioner Homer Bryson announced the promotion of Brian Chambers as Deputy Warden of Security/Care & Treatment at Montgomery State Prison (SP), effective August 16, 2015.  Formerly serving as Unit Manager of Georgia State Prison, Chambers will now be responsible for supervising and managing all security staff and the overall management and operation of the facility as well as the supervision of education, health services, library, counseling and mental health counseling. Montgomery SP currently houses 389 medium security male inmates.

“Brian has worked his way through the ranks since joining the Department in 1997,” said Commissioner Bryson.  “I am confident that his experience and knowledge will be beneficial to the staff at Montgomery State Prison.”

Chambers began his career with the Department in 1997 as a Correctional Officer at Telfair State Prison. In 1999, Chambers transferred to Montgomery SP and served at this facility in the following roles: promoted to Sergeant in 2007, promoted to Lieutenant in 2010, promoted to Captain in 2013, and in 2014, he was promoted to Unit Manager, where he most recently served.

Chambers is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in General Studies with minors in Criminal Justice, Sociology and Business from Georgia Southern University. During his career with the Department he has completed the following training courses: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), and Professional Management Program (PMP). Prior to his service with the Department he completed five years of service with the United States Marine Corps.
