Corrections to Host Military Job Fair

Four organizations to Participate
Forsyth - The Georgia Department of Corrections, in conjunction with the Georgia Department of Defense and Georgia National Guard, will host several law enforcement agencies and the GEO Group for a military personnel job fair on July 30 at 10 a.m. � 2 p.m. at Fort Gordon U.S. Army Reserve Center in Augusta.
The participating agencies (GDC, Department of Juvenile Justice and State Board of Pardons and Paroles) and the GEO Group have approximately 1,100 jobs available for military personnel returning from duty. In addition, the Department of Labor will be in attendance and will provide PC kiosks for applicants to access job information and will provide job counseling to applicants. The event is free and is open to active duty military personnel, army reservists and veterans.
"We are thrilled to have hosted two other military job fairs, and are looking forward to hosting this one in Augusta at Fort Gordon," said Commissioner Brian Owens. It is imperative that we continue to work together to assist these brave men and women who selflessly serve and protect our country find employment."
The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and more than 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
